Hótel Geysir
Food and geysers

Haukadalur is one of Iceland’s famous historical sites. The family ancestor was a famous Icelandic wrestler “glímukappi” and in his honour the restaurant also introduces the Icelandic national sport “glíma.

We emphasize that our guests enjoy excellent experience in food and drink in a beautiful environment.  The restaurant at Hotel Geysir is an a la carte restaurant and we use products directly from farmers from the region.  The second restaurant Geysir Glíma, opened in 2012, with a menu with strong focus on local products. Our chefs use predominanly local igredients of the highest quality and freshness.

Chef demonstration in the hotel garden of cooking using geothermal heat provides a unique visitor experience demonstrating the adaption of man to the natural environment.  The story behind the products provide an insight into the relationship between food, culture and the environment.
Tastes of iceland in a unique natural environment include „geysir bread“  baked in the geothermal field. Special menu for groups.

Among the first things that visitors to Iceland usually notice is a lack of forests. But if you look carefully you can find some.  Haukadalur forest is close to Geysir and there the chefs at Hótel Geysir serve food for groups on special occations by an open fire in a hut. Troll soup with homebaked bread and homemade pesto with lime and feta. Or hot chockolate by the fire.

The restaurant is open all year.
